Why can’t batters help themselves from swinging at these when they would be called balls? Is there something from a batters perspective that makes these seem easy to hit? I remember hearing from anouncers one time trying to explain that fastball pitches at eye level just seem easy to hit for a batter or something like that. But at a major league level shouldn’t they be a little bit more attuned to this? Now I know some batters do hit these but it just seems more often than not when they take the bait they swing and miss. Any thoughts out there explaining this?
